Hook
The “Hook” system uses a traditional rim design with small hooks on the
inside of the bead seat that hold the tyre bead firmly in place. This design
offers excellent compatibility with different tyre types and allows higher air
pressures, which is particularly appreciated by road cyclists. Hooked rims
provide reliable tyre retention and are ideal for riders looking for safety and
versatility.

Hookless
“Hookless” rims have a smooth inner edge without hooks, contributing to a
more aerodynamic and lighter construction. This design is optimised for tubeless
systems and works best at lower pressures, increasing comfort and off-road
traction. Hookless rims are ideal for modern mountain bikes, gravel and trail
riding.

Tubular
Tubular rims are designed for tubular tyres, which are glued directly to the
rim. This system is often used in professional cycling because of its low weight
and ability to run lower pressures without the risk of the tyre rolling off.
Tubular rims offer top performance, a smooth ride and excellent grip, making
them a popular choice for road and cyclocross racing.

Clincher
These rims are no longer offered by EIE because they are not tubeless. We
include the technology here for comparison and to explain the differences.
Clincher rims are designed for use with tyres and inner tubes. The tyre beads
sit in the rim hooks, creating a secure fit and allowing easy installation. This
system is highly popular thanks to its versatility, easy puncture repair and
broad compatibility with different types of bicycles.
