Wheel balancing is still rarely addressed in amateur cycling, although it can significantly influence ride quality. Many cyclists experience resonance and unpleasant wheel vibrations at higher speeds, especially with deep-section carbon rims.
The main cause of this imbalance is the valve, followed to a lesser extent by material inconsistencies in the rim and tyre. The valve creates an uneven mass distribution on one side of the wheel. This becomes particularly noticeable at high speed, where it can affect comfort, handling and, in some cases, safety.
Wheel balancing involves carefully adding weights opposite the main source of imbalance to ensure an even distribution of mass. For maximum accuracy, balancing should be carried out with the tyres already fitted.
Balanced wheels provide a smoother and more stable ride, increase comfort and eliminate disturbing vibrations. This procedure is ideal for anyone who wants to get maximum performance and riding enjoyment from their carbon wheels.
We particularly recommend wheel balancing for riders using deep-section rims. For road racers and triathletes, balancing can be another small piece of the puzzle that improves performance and provides confidence and stability on fast descents.
For balancing, we use a special device from the Spanish manufacturer NAZCA Ingeniería. It works using dynamic balancing, just as in the automotive industry. This technology allows us to balance wheels to an accuracy of one tenth of a gram and get the maximum out of your racing wheels.
Balancing wheels purchased from us – 1,200 CZK
Balancing wheels from other manufacturers – 1,800 CZK
We attach the weights inside the rim bed, preserving the original appearance of the wheels.
