Spoke tying

Carbon fiber binding increases stiffness and energy transfer efficiency, eliminating spoke friction and squeaking. Ideal for sprints and intervals where compromises in springiness and serviceability must be considered.

Binding the spokes with carbon fibre increases wheel stiffness and the efficiency of power transfer during sprints or intervals. It is also ideal for eliminating friction between the spokes on the rear wheel, removing the annoying creaking noises that occur under load.

To bind the spokes with carbon fibre, the spokes must be crossed, meaning that the upper spoke is threaded under the lower one. It is therefore important to decide on this modification in advance. Otherwise, we do not thread the spokes during the build and it is no longer possible to bind them afterwards.

Spoke binding has its advantages, but it also has disadvantages in certain respects. Since the spokes are fixed to one another, the wheel build has less ability to flex. As a result, the spokes may have a somewhat shorter service life. Serviceability can also be affected, as the binding must be interrupted for certain work, such as replacing spokes or carrying out major truing.
