Symmetrical rims
Symmetrical rims have a traditional, evenly distributed profile. This type of
rim can be found on the vast majority of classic bikes with rim brakes.
Asymmetrical rims
Asymmetrical rims are designed with offset spoke holes, allowing spoke tension
to be balanced more effectively on both sides of the wheel. This design
increases the stiffness and durability of the wheel build, contributing to
better power transfer and overall performance. Asymmetrical rims are ideal for
demanding conditions and riders looking for maximum strength and reliability,
especially on mountain and racing bikes. In general, when building disc-brake
wheels, we always prefer asymmetrical rims.
